Trent Lott-R blames talk radio for failing immigration reform bill?

Because things didn't go 'his way', he says, "We must do something about this!" What does he mean by that?

Was it talk radio or is it because most of us are simply outraged at the way our government is handling this?

Talk radio took the immigration bill, and reform, as their baby a while ago. It is the ONLY reason so many Americans responded to the bill by contacting their representatives. Now, I am not saying the bill is good, bad, or in between. Merely that without the talk radio conservatives, the American public, sadly, would never had noticed.

Broadcasters of the political persuasion now have tremendous power. It is a shame, for, we need a DIRECT TALK with our representatives, with our government, not siphoned through demagogues better suited to careers in propaganda in countries in the past I'd rather not mention.

His leadership was awful. The Republicans had the majority for quite a while, and rather than reducing the out of control spending, they contributed to it. I've lost all respect for him.

You have every right to be frustrated. Our conservative leadership has failed us. They're dissing their base. This will come back to bite 'em in the a**.

So he blames talk radio for letting the American people know what's in the bill. They had hoped for stealth to get it passed.

It shows people's opinions and votes do count for something, because if talk radio hosts said something and the people didn't take up the issue with their representatives, what difference would it make? Keep up the pressure. It's worked so far.

That is a really weak excuse by Lott for the legislation not passing...I don't like Rush or Hannity much, but they were just saying what the majority of Americans already believed.

Lott is one of the few that admitted to being bombarded with phone calls and emails but, he said the majority of the people supported the bill. Right then and there I knew he was a liar and not the be trusted on what he says.
Don't tell me a Repub is verging on complaining about Freedom of Speech.

Ken C, you are right, too. But the cool thing about being a Conservative, is that except for a few tenets we all hold sacred, we are allowed to think for ourselves. And that is the reason we are better.
