It can be very cathartic. A wise man once said:

"In certain trying circumstances, Profanity issues a relief denied even to Prayer!"

But most of the time it is just verbal abuse, the vocal equivalent of using a sledgehammer to fix a carburetor!

Theres always a better alternative to cursing - But curse words like ___ and _____ are used so often these days that they have become normal.
You can't really escape them! I try my best not to curse and although I do very little - once I have done, I regret so. Its mostly out of frustration, when I don't have time to think - I just react straight away. When I do curse, its not directed at anybody. Almost as if its just like a normal word like "It" or "As".
Thats the thing with writing - you tend to think before you write. Thinking before you talk is a lot harder, but still should be done.

Thanks !

Is it bad to curse ? As a general rule...yes, it's unnecessary. Yet, I suppose if it's said quietly where others don't really hear then maybe that's fine. When a person swears during general conversation or when I'm dating or in a relationship with a man, if he swears...I find moments as those rude.

Your other question of " What makes you curse " ? . . . That's personal. I will share this though, those moments when I do curse...no ones offended and it's fine.

Cursing is a part of self expression, This is the way you express anger or you are passionate about a subject, or just satisfied. Cursing can be used in a good way such as:
Damn! He's fine *** hell.
You can use it in a bad way such as:
You stupid ***** why would you get your *** on here and ask us some dumb **** like this?

See (smile) therefore, the answer to your question is yes it bad to curse but, everything bad can be turned into something good.

I dont think it is bad to curse exactly, but I'd rather have frnds with a clean language than frnds w/, well, a colourful vocabulary. I guess it totally depends on the person. I curse when I'm angry or frustrated

Don't know about bad. Bad for what? I've always found a good curse a great relief. It clears the head so you can deal with whatever caused it. Sadly, English isn't as good for it as some other languages. Over potty-trained perhaps. But what else would one do when you banged your finger with a hammer?

It depends on your upbringing. For myself, I have no problem with it, but only curse in certain situations where I feel it's appropriate (around friends, for example). In a professional setting, I would never curse, and would never curse around a child.

I generally will use swear words for comedic effect, or to vent hostility, or whenever no other word will do. And, in reality, they're just words. But, in the wrong context, words can hurt or be misconstrued, so you have to use words with caution.

I think it depends on like...how much you do it and how bad the words are lol. I dont think it really matter when you curse very lightly, but yes in general its not a good thing, no.

And im not proud of it, but frustration and exasperation makes me curse.

This reminds me of an episode years ago when I did odd jobs
for an agency. They needed people to clean out the cellar for the Salvation Army. Old Amsterdam cellars are generally too low
to stand upright, so was this one.
A 5.5 max height cluttered cellar is bad enough, a myriad of
drainage pipes at about 5.3 is disastrous.
You just could not help bumping the back of your head into them.( it did hurt, these things don't give )
This lead to some very loud and angry cursing every minute or so. And that led to the salvation army janitor sprinting down the hallway to berate us for our colorful language.
' Not here gentlemen, please ' .....BOINK.....OUCH.....GODD*MN,
BLOODY this......BLOODY that.
The old bloke must have run a marathon that day.
So it was bad, but understandable and afterwards very funny.

I'd never make a judgment about people who do, that is--to a certain extent, not the f word every other word--but I've never FELT like cursing. I don't make a deliberate attempt not to, I just don't. To me, it's just silly, like getting angry. I can only speculate it must be a very nasty feeling that prompts people to curse, & I don't like to feel nasty--so I just don't. Doesn't solve anything, & it DOES offend some people.
