kids will be kids and do whatever they feel is necessary. My mom was the strictist mom to have. She told me that maybe she might let me have a boyfriend at 16. It was so bad that my birthday party was full of girls, no boys! Now even though she forbid boyfriends, she didnt go to school with me, or to the movies, or where ever else i went, when I was really allowed to be myself. My boyfriends go all the was back to elementary. Now when a person asks me how many relations hips I've been in of course I dont include those, it was just a kiddy thing. So whenever a kid feels like they want a bf/gf...they'll have one! Just like everything else!

Yes it is a bit much to have a boyfriend in the 3rd grade. Why do the children feel the need to grow up so fast now days?

I always say that the way you groom your child is the way that child will develop. I think many people believe its cutye to have little 3rd graders acting like boyfriend and girlfriend and it may be innocent but those children will start to really date at a younger age than they should because thye have been alowed.

I allowed my daughter to start dating when she finished her sophmore yeara nd it was selective. Scxhool is more important at that age than dating and when they do strat having boyfriends, it weill take away from school thoughts

everyone has boyfriend/girlfriends growing up. and at any age that is fine as long as there are boundaries - for example holding hands / kissing is acceptable upto about 13 / 14 but sex usually follows so keep an eye on the situation. dont try to stop them being together because they will do it all the more but do try to restrict privacy so they dont have much chance to go down that route early.

My mom wouldn't let me talk on the phone to boys till I was 13 let alone have a boyfriend. I think 13 is an appropriate age.

Its not a bit much. Let them be girlfriend/boyfriend. Why not? I had a boyfriend in kindergarden. I mean you really look back and enjoy when being a girlfriend/boyfriend was so simple.

I think that there are definitely crushes and elementary kids think they're "in love", but I think that to have a real "boyfriend/girfriend" relationship is after two people have gotten to know each other well and they "love" each other like really good friends or family.
