Is the light green or amber?

Green Service Engine soon lights are reminder lights. When you had the oil change done, the oil change place may have forgotten to reset the reminder light. Just take it back to them and most places will reset the switch for you.

If the light is amber/orange. Typically it means that one of the emissions sensors has detected a possible problem. You can get it reset using a scan tool (Can be rented for free at most auto parts stores) and see if it turns on again. If it turns on again it means something needs to be repaired/replaced.

Take it into the original place you bought your car for your next oil change, and when you do that, they will automaticly turn that light off, it is a fuse somewhere in your car that they know how to turn off, even some places like Jiffy Lube will do it if you bring it up to them.
