With all the liberal media, CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, The New York Times and the list goes own, why must the liberals constantly bash the ONE outlet the conservatives have.....are they so afraid that if an alternative voice is heard it may actually make enough sense to change the minds of the less fanatical leftys? I think if I had thousands of people agreeing with my point of view, the few who had opposing opinions, would not keep me up at night....

It's called suppressing the opposition. It's a long time tactic used by all variety of governments and peoples. Churches even do it. The more you can get "your word" out, and stop the opponent from getting "their word" out, the better chance you have of convincing people your point of view is correct. Once this country encouraged debate, now we try to suppress it. The problem is, once recognized the public will start to wonder why? They will begin to question the very sources and ask what are they hiding, and why, what is their real agenda, then the pendulum will start to swing in the opposite direction.

Well other than their blatant political bias, Fox news is just poor journalism. The "liberal media" nailed Bill Clinton to the wall when the Lewinski affair became public. They didn't whine that people weren't being nice enough to him, and they didn;t try and cover for him. Fox news on the other hand lets Bush in particular and the Republicans in general not only slide, but they actively run cover for them. The fact that a political television network tries to sell it itself as unbiased news is disturbing, though most everyone knows better by now. However Fox has managed to drag the journalistic dicourse among the legitmate news organizations down a notch, and since what this country really needs to do is take a hard objective look at itself and choose the next direction to take that is a big problem. And by the way Conservatives have the following legitimate news outlets, New York Post, the Wall Street Journal (law and ecnomic conservatives), and the Washington Times to give a few examples. CNN, CBS, ABC and NBC all have full time conservative political analyst on their pay roll to give their point of view, while Fox does not have a liberal commentator other than Colmes (who is just there to be a punching bag for Sean Hannity) .

Lilliput, you say the "liberals" etc. are bashing. It goes both ways, don't you think? I try to watch Fox and CNN and MSNBC. Fox is okay, but O'Reilly and that Hannity are pretty extreme. Hannity went on and on that Hillary, (whom I wouldn't vote for), was against that Don Imus. He dug up some of her supporters and what not? I use to watch Imus. For heaven's sake, Imus called Hillary "Satan" every day. I think it was pretty "fair" for her to object to the ol' boy? O'Reilly paid off a phone sex lady with millions. He didn't put up a fight at all. Just bought her off. He writes books on children's and adult morality etc. That don't seem very sincere? He says reporters shouldn't bother reporting IED bombs in Iraq etc. C'mon Lilliput?? Bill says these secularists are trying to take Christ out of Christmas. A major conspiracy of some kind? Lilliput, probably way before you were born, back in the 1950's, there were people writing Merry Xmas. What are these dudes talking about exactly?? Lilliput, I know Jesus said be ye "hot" or "cold", but you must remember this nation was founded on "compromise". America's a mess right now, I think? A lot of that comes from strict orthodox "labeling" and positions. Your people like Rush, Shawn, and Bill have done more to drawn these "extreme" factions than the other side, I think? Rush says if you compromise, that's like being in the middle of the road. He says you'll get run over. Cute analogy, but it really isn't American??? Lilliput, the liberals have done much to hurt this country, I agree. Keep in mind the hard right conservative is just as guilty?

The few times I have watched FOX news, their attitude toward a story has been so completely stupid that I was feeling sick - then calling themselves Fair and Balanced is an insult. When a bill was introduced limiting the war in Iraq, the Republicans altered the bill so much that even the person who started the bill voted against it - only 3 people voted for it, yet Fox "analyzed" the vote by ranting about these 3 "hewing the Democratic line" and proving the Dems were unpatriotic while never mentioning the changes to the bill.
This is on the level of the radio preacher I once heard go on for 15 minutes about Christ being wrapping in swaddling clothes proving that his death was foretold at birth because he mistook swaddling for shroud.

Fox claims to be fair and balanced. Some of their reporting is. But their commentary is pro-Bush and slanted to the conservative side.
There is no way that Fox, because of its size and scope, can be exactly neutral. The left will poke fun because Fox is different. The right pokes fun at CNN because it is different from them. Just accept it.
Personally, I think Fox seems silly sometimes when they try to justify some of Bush's actions. Even they (the reporters) know that he is barking up the wrong tree, but they have to keep the network line. Its worthy of scorn, just as all the others are.

Conservatives are concerned about the truth. Even if it is not what we want to hear. The problem is that the liberal point of view is so over represented that many people just assume it must be true. For instance, you will rarely ever see an episode of Law and Order where the liberal point of view isn't prevalent and the conservatives are always presented as knuckle dragging Neanderthals.
In most movies in the past ten years, any homosexual character is usually a sympathetic character. They are often seen as victims and are heroic.
In most every movie, TV sit-com and commercial, the males are stupid and the women are brilliant. In movies, they have 98 pound female models beating the hell out of huge men. Indiscriminate sex is the norm. We never see any of the negative repercussions of this kind of behavior.
So the message to today's little boys is that women are smarter then men, stronger than men, more cunning than men, can beat up men and the only men who are any good at all are homosexual.
I am glad I was born in the 1950's. Who are the role models for todays boys? You can be a rapper and then women are suddenly just sex toys or you have to be submissive to women or gay.
When was the last time you saw males as strong protectors of women? When was the last time you saw the father portrayed as the smart one in the family or even competent?
So if todays young boys even have a father he is just stupid anyway and the mother handles everything important.
If Hollywood or Television had set out to destroy the foundations of America on purpose they could not have done a better job.

It seems that those who are on the far left are much more vocal than those on the far right. They speak their mind, as it is their right to. However, as Bushes re-election proves, sometimes a lot of talk does not equal a lot of action.
I watch both, and come to my own conclusions. Some people feel too threated. But then, it's just a part of that free speech and media rights we have. You can't defend it when it says what you agree with, and say it should be stopped when it is something you disagree with.

It's refreshing to see a conservative finally admit that FOX is a conservative outlet
I will debate you indicating that CNN is liberal. The news on CBS, ABC, NBC is a very limited portion of their programming and perhaps has a slight lean to the left.
Let us not forget talk radio as a major conservative outlet too.
And all newspapers outside of the large metro areas are typically conservative too.

I'm not condoning the "liberal" media either, it's just that Fox says that it is "fair and balanced" and it has a tendency to sway towards the conservative agenda. News agencies are supposed to stay in the center and I think it's pretty impossible for that to happen for any news agency.

Seems to me that anyone who doesn't like FOX should just turn it off. That's what I do for some of the networks sometimes.
But I also think that even people who don't agree with it should watch it to get an alternate perspective - that's why I watch CNN sometimes.
