check your history, gang violence has occured in America long before movies made the influence. there is another source out there and its called poverty

like someone else said, gangs have been around long before the movies, however, it certainly does not help the current generation to keep making glorifying movies about the life of gangs and such. Oddly enough though, some of the things that attract kids to gangs are:

total acceptance, love, sense of family, sense of protection, a voice, respect, etc.

Does that sound familiar to anyone? Sounds like what ought to be happening in real families.

That's a little extreme. It does do more to stereotype certain races of people. They should be the ones to complain that they are portrayed only as pimps, drug dealers, gang members, welfare ghetto dwellers. They don't put you in prison for carrying shampoo at the airport for they just take it away.
