tryed to link my web cam to my new compaq desk top (vista) and when i dounloaded the driver i rebooted and the computer will not come on it is running a repair the stops and says posibble problem being that ive attached some device to it and to unplug it and try to boot again but now it says that i need to get in touch with my admin or sevice provider does anyone no what i can do to sort this???

Try turning off "User Controls" The path is: Start/Control Panel/User Accounts. At the bottom of the right window, click on "Turn User Account Control on or off".

Basically Windows Vista doesnt support unsigned drivers.The best thing to try is to go to the website of The webcam manufacturer and get the latest driver.Try flashing the BIOS to the latest version for your computer vendors website.If that doesnt resolve try your webcam on a system with XP to make sure the device is fine.Try updating the USB drivers as well.

well if you have the software for the webcam try reinstalling it
the drivers are on the disk although you may have to update or download them as you already did, i have had this happened a few times, i just kept trying with find new hardware wizard
and rebooted a few times then the computer fount it

maybe virus have been entered through the driver or it is vista problem
