So will this weekends match-up between the Padres vs. Red Sox be a world series preview? Here is the pitching match-up between the two teams below. Both are the best in their respective leagues. The Sox have struggled against right handed pitchers and the ones scheduled are some of the best in the business. And can the Padres provide enough offense for their pitching staff, as they did today for Maddux.

Friday: Daisuke Matsuzaka vs. Chris Young
Saturday: Tim Wakefield vs. Greg Maddux
Sunday: Curt Schilling vs. Jake Peavy

I thought the same thing a couple days ago when I was looking at the schedule. Padre's have the best pitching in baseball and it is not even close. BoSox have a great offense and a very good pitching staff... I like Maddux against Wakefield a lot and think Peavy is the best pitcher in baseball so far in 2007. But Dice-K will probably beat Young but that may be the closest match up as far as pitchers go. Maddux has lost one in SD and had 4 leads blown by the Padres awesome bullpen. Peavy is almost unhittable this year. Schilling is a great pitcher and Wakefield is an innings eater and usually keeps them in games but needs offense to win.

Dodgers don't have the right mix to win the division this year. No leaders on the pitching staff (Schmidt WAS a stud but was always more comfortable as a number 2). I believe the Padres are a single bat away from being the odds on favorate to win the NL. They also have the minor league and bullpen depth to make the move... I keep hearing the Reds for Griffey or Dunn... We'll see... But I see no reason this would not be a WS preview... Good call!!!

The Padres have played great to this point, but they'll be in a tough battle with the Dodgers to take that division title. I'm not sure, though, why everyone seems ready to hand the title to L.A. when the Padres score more runs and give up fewer than the Dodgers. I think it will come down to either or both of those teams making a move at the trade deadline.

As for the Sox, they've got a much better shot at the Series than whoever wins the NL West. Great pitching and the second-best offense in the league are going to win a lot of games, and the Sox should make the playoffs easily.

As for the eventual Series matchup, who knows? The playoffs are a crapshoot, despite the stupid predictions everyone tries to make in the postseason. Remember everyone picking the Mets to easily beat the Cards? That's why people shouldn't even try guessing outcomes once the playoffs roll around.

The Padres are a very god team and they will make it to the NLCS. I just can't see them getting past the Mets. Yes they are going through a slump right now but when they get Pedro back(soon)they will catch fire and pull away. They have a good bullpen which is also good for the playoffs. the Padres would be my #2 pick for NL champion. I just don't think they have the hitting to last all the way though. If they mak ea move, possibly Texariea(spelled it wron I know)that could change everything. As for the AL, well I have to say the Indians.

NO WAY

The Padres aren't even the best in that division. That would be the Dodgers. The Mets are better than the Padres, and the Cubs have been looking pretty good lately (with the exception of the brawl game). I wouldn't be surprised if the Dads don't even make the playoffs. The Sox have a good chance, but the chance of them and the Padres meeting in the world series is about .5%
Seriously. Stop Dreaming.

Red Sox - Will be in the World Series
Padres - Could possibly be in the World Series...most likely will be in the playoffs

Go Padres!
The Redsux staff is not as good as people would like to think!
Wakefield needs his Knuckleball to "move" in order to pitch past the third, Curt "Fats" Schilling is inconsistant and Dice K.... I personally think he's a bust for all that $!
