Avast OR AntiVir?

Question

I have Comodo firewall and have found that it doesn't work well with Active Virus Shield and KAV :(
I hear Avast is better but uses more memory... so Avast or AntiVir or something else??

I have used AVG is the past and don't like it. It offers adequate protection and Norton is a resource hog.

I am surprised that Active Virus Shield doesn't play well with your Comodo PF. Works great here. Oh, well.

Yes, Avast uses a lot more memory then Anti-Vir but is a lot more configurable. Anti-Vir used about 8 MB RAM on my machine when I tried it. And you can halve that if you permanently disable automatic updating and do it manually.
Avast ran close to 20 MB.

Anti-Vir has better overall detection rate and better heuristics than Avast:

Avast has dedicated E-Mail scan and (IMHO, vastly over-hyped) Web-Scan while Anti-vir relies on its file scanner for these functions.

It's pretty much a toss-up I would say.

Avast is very good,but the best thing about is the forum.The evangelists as they like to be known are brilliant.They will go out of their way to help you,should you encounter a problem.You will not encounter problems with Avast and Comodo too.

Avast any day, i have used so many and always go back to avast. i personally think it is the best one around and its free. you cant beat that

I use AVG, it does not use much memory and it works good. Avast is good too, but does use a lot of memory.
