if some people have a lot more money than you do?

I see articles these days about "income inequality," saying it is bad for society.

I also see arguments about, say, abortion and same-sex marriage and stating that they have negative effects on society. But others say "it doesn't affect you personally," and "if you don't like the behavior, don't engage in it." (Could one say "if you don't like the wealthy, don't become rich?")

Do the "moral" arguments - that something is bad for society - apply in all cases? Or is the "mind your own business" rejoinder more applicable in all cases?

If the concern for society in general is applicable in some cases and not others, explain why. Are people just engaging their own biases, or is there some logical distinction?

What other issues have you seen this logic applied to, rightly or wrongly?

I think that whenever people criticize income inequality, they're not really criticizing people for getting rich. Rather, they are criticizing the fact that some people are getting poorer and more unable to adequately support themselves financially. I think that whenever people argue that abortion and same-sex marriage don't affect everyone, they are arguing that they only affect those who are engaging in those activities and that it's no skin off the noses of those who aren't.

As for the first part of your question.....This is America. Being succsesfull means possibly becomimg rich. In this country you can either work hard and become succesfull....or lay on your lazy #$% and live off others. You do have that choice!!!! Liberal politicians however have a blurred view of this concept. They feel that anyone who becomes wealthy in this country(except themselves of course) should some how feel gulity for it. They feel that your wealth should be shared with the less fourtanate.(those that dont wish to do anything) The truth to this however.....Its not thier money. Abortion is termed by liberal politicians, and other far left out of touch wackos as a right to a womens choice. But in reality......It is just a reward for ir-responsible behavior. Homosexuality is labaled a lifestyle choice by these same fanatics. The truth being it is one of the most dispicable behaviors knowen to the human race. It is totaly un-natural. But......They intend to force it down NORMAL peoples throats....

1)Regardless of what ppl say about equal income in America things are always going to off balance because of greed. Isn't it funny how people/white collar population[who didnt earn their own money or are stealing it] i.e. Paris Hilton are earning so much money for doing so little while there are people on the streets who have no places to work such as Camden, people who work three jobs but still cant make ends meet. HARD WORK GAURANTEES NOTHING in America

2) "moral" arguments vs. "mind your own business"
I think that depending on the case depends on the argument its funny how
abortion is taboo because it is seen as immoral
but Same-gender marraige is tolerated because of the "mind your own business arguments.
Morality is taboo because America isnt its own country it is a combination, a heterogenous society with varying religoins, morals, and opinions; America sadly tries TO PLEASE EVERYONE but it causes tension becuase not everyone can have what they want. America was founded on Chrisitian Moral so i think that as a country that respects its own constitution, and refuses to revise its statements, it should also be a country favorable of Chrisitan beliefs.

If you go to a foreign country such as China or Iran would you or should you expect someone to say marry christmas? no. So why are American suing one another for greeting them in the standards of the country's more popular religion?

3) Bias vs. Logic
Logic is applied when dealing with certain situations such as homosexuality. It is impossible for people of the same gender to reproduce, so it should be outlawed because it is unnatural, and could cause emotional stress on any children they adopt: thats one ex.

Bias, Since homose*** is written as abominable in my religion then gays are all horrible people, and if congress isnt willing to take their rights away then ....[it goes on]. However with bias some cases of sinful behavior are highlighted or more hated than others. ex. some would rather be friends with a pimp than a homo. even though both are "sinful" they use self-bias to exalt one sin over the other.

Back to Logic. As a scientist we have discovered that as humans we must have evolved from primates we have proof thus we must teach it to school students. Religion: God made the first human beings and since the scientists cannot prove how the universe was made then they are wrong thus evolution should not be taught in school

The "correct answer": teach both view in schools
this in itself causes more controversy than leaning towards one group

We seem to be a nation of busybodies egged on by the media. What used to be reliable news outlets are nothing more than tabloids spewing sensationalistic stories some of which are half lies. We butt into the affairs of other countries. We butt into the affairs of our neighbors. Look at the judge shows on TV and see how sad our society has become with people getting into other people's business. While I don't advocate isolationism of one in their own home, community or for the country to be isolationist there is a fine line between news and gossip and we should know when to intervene and when to stay the hell out. We don't seem to have that line in focus it is blurred and so we just plow on into territory that is simply none of our business.
