I bought a new ACER laptop Aspire 5571ZWXMi with a 802 wireless LAN. But i do not have a telephone nor an internet connection at home. How can i be able to get an internet connection? Do i have to buya router? What kind?

You would need to get a DSL or cable line installed. Buying a router would do you no good without either DSL or cable. A router merely takes one Internet signal and makes it available (routes it) between several computers. The router has to have an Internet signal coming into the house before it can route that signal to multiple PCs.

If you don't have a telephone connection (and don't plan on getting one), don't bother with dial-up, just get cable internet. There are tons of sites you can search, and most cost around $40/ month. The reason I suggest this is because it's faster than dial-up, and when you add in the cost of an active phone line, it's around the same price.
Most of the big services will hook you up with a wireless network when they install for free or a small price. Once this is broadcasting, you should be able to hop on your network whenever you're home since your computer has that capability built-in.
Now all you have to worry about is password-protecting your network so the neighbors don't hop on too.

Call your local phone company, if it's Bell Canada then they will have a deal where you can get a home phone and a internet connection for so much a month. That bundle would be cheaper then paying for a home phone and internet connection on thier own.

you need a cable hook up for lan setting
or dsl . not a router - a router is for computer protection ,some have a built in firewall

well what you could do is by a card that slots into ur laptop or pc but preferbaly laptop and then you can access the interent anywhere in the world, like a moblie phone, but this card cost 195 pounds, and it sounds like your a child writing this so....

sounds like you will need a wireless router, for example a wireless linsys you can get them at wal-mart for around $50
