I grew up in South Louisiana, so I was always afraid there were alligators either in the closet or under the bed. I was scared to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night because I thought the gators would bite my feet off, so when I had to go, I would stand on my bed and jump as far away from it as I could.
The bubbles in the water cooler at my grandmother's house use to freak me out too.
And pixies. We weren't allowed upstairs at my great uncles house, so he use to tell us that pixies lived upstairs, and they'd get us if we went up there. Unfortunately, we had to pass the staircase to go to the bathroom, and every time, I'd look cautiously to make sure the pixies weren't going to fly down the stairs and carry me off.
