I don 't know why they make your students memorize half the crap you do. I think the poem Jabberwocky is just that a bunch of Jabberwocky!! Yes I realize the words have meaning to Carroll. I guess it is like Art they want you to get exposed to different pieces of literature. This is one I could go without and not miss out.

I loved the poem so much that I memorized it on my own, even though I didn't have to. The poem is a prime example of the use of "port manteau" words, which means words composed of two separate words to make a third meaning. "The Jabberwocky" is one of the funniest poems I've ever read and I still remember every word of it.

I do not know but I had to, to. It was on same list with gettysburg address and preamble to constitution.
