The big complaint by congress, supported by the media, is that there are just too many millions of illegals to deport, so that the only option is to ignore their crime and give them preferential treatment vs. others who are trying to immigrate legally. Grant them amnesty because there are too many millions to enforce.
So, does that mean if we all decided to stop paying taxes as of the next day, that they would be cool with that too? After all, there would be too many BILLIONS of us to enforce it.
One way this could be done is, if they pass amnesty, we all put our mail in the mailboxes WITHOUT STAMPS for the month that follows. THE ENTIRE MONTH. And demand that congress see to it that the letters are sent anyway.
It would send a message that is very symbolic (a good parallel to the Stamp Act that triggered the revolution). And after all, we'd be in the right because it's just too many to enforce.
What do you think?

I think it is a great idea, but just like all the emails you receive telling you to boycott buying gas on a certain day, I don't believe enough people would participate to make it successful.

yes they would and as already stated most of them have been paying taxes for years, if you are going to point out facts then you can't just read the ones that work in your defense. What about all the Americans that have been living off of welfare and government housing? What about all the Americans that work for one month of the year and then because they have 3 kids they get back a couple of thousand? Mexicans that are illegal have work because there are so many people in this country that don't bother with regular jobs. They feel that because there American they should get more than minimum wage, maybe if We as Americans focused more on what we are doing to help our nation we could get beyond the smaller hurdles in life.

While the majority of them have not paid taxes, here is a dirty little secret your government does not want you to know. There is a large block of illegal immigrants who DO PAY TAXES to the IRS The IRS has been collecting from them at least since the early1990's.
They do it this way
The IRS issues them a number not a social, but one specifically to collect taxes from them. It is called an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN).
So while some have been up in arms about them not paying into the system and just taking, wake up, they have been paying and not just sales tax. Don't get me wrong, some have not been but as soon as they found out that they could, and who they could go about it, they have been.
Excerpt from the Tuscon Citizen Newspaper April 2007
"Saul Romero, an illegal immigrant from Puebla, Mexico, has been working in the United States for six years.
Last week, the Phoenix factory worker walked into the offices of Campos Enterprises, a tax preparer in Glendale, and for the first time filed his income taxes with the IRS.
Tax preparers are seeing a surge in the number of illegal immigrants such as Romero as the April 17 filing deadline approaches. Filings are rising despite efforts to crack down on businesses that knowingly hire illegal workers.
Many illegal immigrants are hoping that playing by the rules now will help them earn legal status should Congress pass comprehensive immigration reform, say tax preparers, immigrant advocates and legal experts. "
So if some illegals are willing to pay taxes, then I guess the IRS won't let you off the hook.

Well, not paying your taxes is not effective unless you send a letter to the IRS notifying them that you will not pay taxes because the government is not enforcing national integrity laws.
Please. Do that. Do that soon, and do it often. Publish open letters in the press that advocate other people standing up for their rights.
Let me know where you end up and I'll send flowers every year on the anniversary of your conviction.
BTW, unstamped mail comes back to the sender, postage due. And if there's no return address, the postal service just throws it away.

Well..
I think it's quite funny that some politicians believe we shouldn't deport ANY illegals because there's so many. Last time I checked, if there's a problem, you don't ignore it if it grows too big: you take drastic steps to directly minimize the issue.
The logic is the same as me saying "Wow, I have a lot of chores. In fact, there's so many that I'm not going to do any of them."

that's really a well thought out point..
but the lion's share of Americans have to ask for a refund once a year..so the Gov't has built in a protection mechanism in the event of public revolt..over the general sense of unfairness..and revulsion over their poor leadership
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
side note..don't expect liberals to share your opinion..they think you should pay way more and comply with their every whim.

No you will still pay taxes... but also, someone is going to have to do the jobs they are doing at the pay they are getting... that means you and me.
