Your computer has an small internal battery that keeps the clock running. It is located on the motherboard and iis usually good for about five years, but, as all batteries, it could last longer, or considerably less.

When the battery voltage drops too much the clock will vary considerably.
You should take the variations in time as a signal that the battery needs replacement.

To re-set the time and/or date either right-click or double-click on the bottom right side of your screen, where the time is displayed. This will bring up the dialog box for setting time/date/time zone and you can set it as needed, whenever needed.

If you are in North America and your computer is more than a year old (and I would guess that it is if you have a run-down battery) your system is NOT set up to change between daylight and standard time at the correct dates as the change dates were revised last year. You will have to do this manually.
