After installing the latest media player; my CD/DVD drive stopped working. Is there any way to fix it?

As noted above; I installed windows media player version 11 on my computer (an xp one), and suddenly my CD/DVD player doesn't work; and it doesn't even appear under my computer anymore. A friend had a similar problem and had to get a new computer. Will I need to get a new computer, or is there any way to get the drive to work again?

try updating the driver thats probly why it wont even show up, The computer dosent even know it there!

Try a system restore to the point where you did not have Media Player 11.
Make life easier. Just use Cyberlink's Power DVD.
