Parking Pawl inside the transmission will cost big money if you break it off metal part floating around inside the gear box can be disasterious. Remember don't be in a hurry to do anything around a dangerious thing such as a car. We tend to forget if you get out after the parking pawl breaks the car is rooling into someone or thing. That jerking puts lots of load on the motor mounts too.

Yes. You should only put an automatic transmission in the park mode when you are stopped completely and usually when you are parking the vehicle. Hence "park". Oh by the way if you keep doing what you've been doing you could destroy the tranny, if you haven't already.

I am no mechanic, but I am pretty sure that you stand a chance of ruining something. I, too, have put my car into gear in a hurry, and found out the hard way that when I do that, I cannot turn the ignition over.

Putting your car in Park locks the gearbox. If you are still moving then you do stand a good chance of damaging something. Brakes are cheaper than gearboxes.

No doubt this will seriuosly damage you car.Apply brake as hard as u can..it is made to stop the car.But not the gear handle to P postion to be used. The P position will lock the gear box and makes the car to still.if you use it like this very soon you have to tow the car to garage and change the gearbox itself.

Here's the one thing to consider, The only thing that holds your car in park is a small tang of metal that locks the gears in the transmission. Break that, and you have to replace the transmission.

Yes, It's better to wait until you stop completely before put it into park.
I did it one day when my son was in the car and he told me I could do damage to it. He works in the shop at a car dealership. It could end up costing you to get it fixed if it really gets bad.
