Does anyone else think Jonny Gomes is in for a hot streak this period? With Rocco Baldelli coming back most likely this Friday, I still think he'll DH at home and be a solid producer. Anyone agree or disagree?

Gomes is an enigma to me. He always seems to go on these streaks where he looks to be one of the top ten hitters in baseball, like at the start of last season, and then it ends as quickly as it starts. He was well over .300 for the first quarter of the season last year and stopped hitting, lost his starting job and hit .216 for the year. He is hitting .270 this year and has always had good power numbers. If he can get his hitting stroke back it would be great for Tampa Bay, I hope he does.

I wouldn't get too excited about Jonny Gomes. He had a good game yesterday, but everyone has those from time-to-time. Gomes hit 11 homers in April of last year, the hit under .220, and had nine the rest of the season. He has also spent most of this year in the minors.

Gomes may have a hot streak for a week or two, but eventually he'll be his strikeout-prone self.

I think this is Gomes last real shot with the Rays. The Devil Rays have so much up and coming talent that he knows he has to do well or he's through with this team. I look for big things from him. I hope it works out. He is good for the ball club. He is a fiery guy who helps motivate others. Good question!

I'm just glad someone else is in the outfield besides Elijah Dukes. Hopefully with the return of Baldelli this weekend will mean the end for Dukes. He has worn out his welcome as far as I am concerned. As far as Gomes goes, it looks as though Maddon has pushed his buttons the right way and now he is playing like there is no tomorrow. His early season demotion has fueled him and he is 8-14 upon his return, including his 2 homer day on Sunday vs the Rockies.
