I am concerned with that because my period for me is like a disease, it makes me feel horrible and weak. I got a lot of cramps and I also get depressed. I was thinking in going to the gym but them I rememberd that I heard that it is not good for you to exercise during those days and I have just got my period. What can I do?

Not true. You can indeed work out during your period.

However... if working out during menstruation makes you feel physically bad, then... don't. That could turn you off to good exercising

But... if you find that you can perform some exercise without discomfort, then do those exercises, and avoid those that make you hurt more. So, if doing arm exercises doesn't hurt, do those. If bicycling doesn't hurt during mensus, do that. Or, if you just plain feel lousy no matter what, then rest your way through the mensus. The exercise will be waiting for you, patiently... until you 'recover' :-) Good exercise before the onset of mensus can also make dealing with it easier, for many women.

Non-exercise times during mensus... are also good times to 'study' and learn. Your brain and mind needs exercise too, you know! :-)

ITS OK TO EXERCISE DURING YOUR PERIOD. Jeez that sounds like info from the dark ages. It would probably make you feel better. Take some Ibuprofen for your cramps and get exersizing. You may want to use a tampon when working out. But it can only help you, it wont hurt you.

It is fine to exercise when you have your period and may even help with the cramps. Just keep in mind that exercising may make your periods a little heavier, but apart from that its all good!

That is not true. Some exercises can actually make the cramps feel better.

It is certainly not true, light exercise like walking and swimming can actually help alleviate cramps. If you are in the uk then you can buy feminax tablets from boots, they are fantastic for cramps are they are specially designed for those menstraul cramps.

When I'm having one of those days I purposely go to the gym! It helps with my cramps and my mood!

That's so not true, sometimes exercise can help with cramps, circulation etc. Just take some Pamprin, Midol etc and go ahead with your day.

It is only not good if you have polycystic ovarian syndrome and moderate to severe anemia. In those cases, at least try to go on a walk.

Otherwise, it is very beneficial to you, might improve your outlook and lessen the days of your flow.

You can work out very well during your periods. All you need is to make sure you are well covered.
