Most likely some kind of ego thing. BUT UNLESS he is the only one that can answer your question, I'd just blow it/him off. EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE can be replaced. NO one is perfect, so I am sure that there is someone who can give you the answer or information you're looking for.
