http is hypertext transfer protocol. https is http secure, so it is an encrypted form of http. It is used by most websites that require you to log in with any kind of sensitive or personal information to try to protect you. It's not foolproof, but it is better than plain http.
The website is the same, it's just the protocol that is different. If you trust the website, then it's fine--just make sure you're not giving any information to websites you don't trust, regardless of whether they use http or https--b/c even with https, the owner of the website can easily see any information you submit. The encryption only helps against third-party attackers.

The "s" part of "https" bit just means that it is encrypted for security. This is good, since you're making transactions at this address. The gold lock just confirms that the encryption is enabled and that you are on a secure site.
Hope this helps!
