That saying usually means with respect to life, not a trip.
For example, the happiness are the joys you experience in reaching a goal in life, once you reach that goal (the destination) you move onto another destination.
Kind of like if your goal is marriage, your voyage is the dating process to find your perfect mate. Then once you have found your mate the destination is a harmonious and happy life so the day to day joys of achieving that are the voyage.
I hope this explains it for you.

Hi
Life may be thought of as a series of learning events.
All these events blend together and are experienced as life.
The sheer joy of this journey called life is part of this -
To experience each moment as it is.
To enjoy each second as it unfolds.
The delight of learning as it occurs.
The experience of insight as it becomes.
The beauty of the Universe as it unfolds.
To be joyous in recognizing that this life is a journey of ups, downs, and sideways.
Enjoy and delight in any endeavor as we undertake it. Enjoy the fruits of our labor.
Whether this is difficult or simple - whether this takes time or is momentary. Enjoy Life.
Enjoy the journey - we reach the destination oh too soon.
See link below.
Peace -C

We have the capacity to be happy during the course of our lives, not just when we win the lottery or finally retire. In other words, we can be happy as we work towards retirement.
This form of being happiness is closely married to "The Serenity Prayer," in which one accepts one's lot in life and makes "peace" with it, as opposed to "raging at the machine" over things you can't change.
These are my two cents worth.

It means that happiness is not permanent. Like in our life, we travel for a short while but not permanently, in the same way, happiness is not permanent like a destination that if we reach it, it will be with us forever.

Very good question, honey! I'm excited to answer this, humbly tho'..as it is just my opinion:
One can NEVER truly "arrive" at happiness; just as there are many gas stations along the highway on a long road trip; so it is with "happiness".....they are scarce; far in between moments of happiness. Just an analogy.... :)
BUT! The Good News tells us that when we receive Jesus (Yeshua) as our Savior, that the Holy Spirit comes and indwells us. (THIS IS A VERY GOOD THING), as it is the HS who enables us (thru our obedience to GOD), to have an "ABIDING" (remaining, staying) JOY....thru any trial or circumstance.
Just remember:
Happy EQUALS= temporary, fleeting moments that change with
our circumstances.
JOY EQUALS= "a happiness" that remains with us; as with GOD, all things are possible, and HE gives us peace and joy, which are far better, and mega different than mere "happiness"!
YHVH (God) Bless you and have a great day~!!!!

try this hapiness is learning how to get through life. the destination is life, and we learn our whole life through thats the voyage. as children we learn from our parents
we learn from our friends
ship captains learn how to navigate their ships through the channels of water to get where they are going. that's their voyage
we learn how to navigate our way through our lives and we gain experience from learning

That means that happiness is a continuous state, not just something you are trying to reach and once you get there it's gone.
