I think the greatest threat is overpopulation, we are fast reaching the point that the planet cannot sustain such a large mass of people

No I don't. I think its unchecked population expansion - the Earth has limited resources. Once we get to a certain point, there could be wars for food. I also don't think that the legal system is corrupt - imperfect, and some individuals in it are corrupt, but they tend to get caught.
