I am 21 years old and currently in the U.S. Army. I am 16 weeks pregnant with my first child. Recently my platoon sergeant (some e-7 a'hole) told me if I was pregnant I would have been shown right now. When I go back home yea I see my belly sticking out there. Maybe he aint seen it. So now I am scared what if I need to be shown a little bit more. My last Dr. check up, they told me the baby heart beat is good and its growing. Things that should have moved (inside of me) during the pregnancy did! But listening to my platoon sergeant has me all scared now. Its to the point where he make another nco go with to my appointments. I been told it doesn't look like I m pregnant. I been told by other mothers give it a month. Shoould I be showing? And what should I do with this dumb platoon sergeant of mine?

My sister in law was so tiny throughout her entire pregnancy. She only gained 18 pounds through the whole thing and at 9 months she only looked 6 months. She didn't even start showing until 20 weeks. She is literally the healthiest person I know and I have the most perfect niece that anybody could ask for. Ignore that person b/c he/she is just rude.

Maybe his wife (or she, if it is a female) gained 80 pounds and feels like everybody else has to also. That is not the case and it is actually very unhealthy for baby and mother. I would tell your platoon sergeant just that!

Is your platoon sergeant a man? LOL! Sorry, just sounds like a very ignorant man thing to me. As long as your dr. is happy then don't worry about it. Every woman grows and changes differently. I am 8 months and get told all the time that I can't be that far along. Pre-pregnancy weight can factor in along with a lot of other things. I had bad morning sickness for the first three months and lost about 10 pounds, since I got over that I have only gained about 6 pounds back. Don't let some stupid man cause you to miss all the amazing changes you'll get to experience by spending the time worrying about something that they said and know nothing about! And tell that sergeant to get a medical degree and then come back and talk to you! ;) Good Luck.

Everyone is different. With my two boys I started showing earlier.(16 to 17 weeks..not much though a little bump :O) However with my little girl, (I was in better shape) I didnt really start showing till my sixth month and then I really started showing (6 1/2 months to 7, I caught up quickly)she was 9lbs 9oz. I gained only 21 pounds with her.

Talk to your doctor, don't listen to some stupid platoon sergeant...do they have a medical degree?

Let them talk, believe me when I say you will get the advice, "I did this and this, you should be." or I was sick you should be , what ever you do don't do this.....Talk to your doctor...they know best.

No worries!

best wishes

first let me say thank you for serving for our country and congratulations on being a mommy!

to answer your question about showing each person is different. I personally didn't start really showing until I was 25 weeks along. reguardless, if your going to the doctors and they hear a heartbeat it sounds like everything is normal.

As for the platoon sergeant, I'd get a letter saying you were pregnant from the doctor and show it to them. Hopefully that will shut them up!

He's best uninteresting due to the fact he's in an uneventful tale line. The Big Show is higher than the opposite freak suggests fine kahli and Big Daddy V. At least he can transfer beautiful good now. Lol, Big Daddy V could not elevate the ones little men Big exhibit is combating.

I'm 25 or 26 weeks pregnant, also with my first child, and I'm barely showing. I've been told by friends and from what I've read that women don't show as early with the first one. I also have a couple of friends who are also tall (one is "only" 5'9", the other, an inch or two taller than my six feet) who also said they didnt' show much either, the first one said that she was that way with her last child (her third, I think). Even in my maternity clothes, I just look pudgy. (I've only gained about 15 pounds thus far. If I don't keep walking and keep eating the way I have been, I'm going to gain what I don't need to gain. Sure, I mostly eat whole, healthy foods as close as to what God made them, but that doesn't give me too much liberty.)

I personally don't think your sargeant is an idiot-- Not just because I've never met the guy, but because I don't like making comments like that about people (regardless of their rank/superiority to me). However, he just doesn't seem to know much about pregnancy, which is understandable, if he's never had first hand experience with it. (I'm assuming he's a he from what you've said.)

Yet, if he's treating you this way, don't you have the authority to go over his head and file a complaint? I wouldn't go as far as to label it discrimination, but it sure seems as though he's not treating you fairly.

You'll show when it's your time to show.

I'm almost 21 weeks and I'm just barely showing. I just now started wearing maternity clothes. When I tell people how far along I am they don't believe me. I don't know what to do about your sergeant but don't worry about the baby. You'll start showing more soon.

Show that dumb *** a picture of an ultrasound, a record from a check-up or just ask your doctor to write and sign a note that states how far along your pregnancy is and stick it in his face. I can't believe what ignorant people live in this world!!

Don't listen to this idiot, my 2 sisters have just had babies and they didn't start to show until bout 20 weeks. Don't let what he said worry you, if the doctors have said your baby is ok then everything must be fine. Try not to stress about it and just enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. I wish you lots of luck and hope everything goes well for you.
