It has to be down to these two. I personally think Haren should go ahead of Beckett for three reasons:

1. ERA is more telling of a pitchers value than wins. This is because ERA is completely in the pitchers control where wins have a lot to do with run support.

2. The A's have a much worse offense than the Red Sox so Beckett's stats are loaded.

3. The AL West is a much better hitting division than the AL East.

The Yankees are the 2nd best hitting team in the AL. The D-Rays are the 8th, Blue Jays are the 9th, and Baltimore is the 13th.

The Angels are the 4th, Rangers are the 6th, Mariners are the 7th.

There is no doubt which one is better

Dan Haren has a slight edge over Beckett. Either one would be a good choice. A.L. has a lot of good starting pitchers this year.

Yeah, that is with the aid of fact Dan Haren is having an surprising season. Haren is doing it with a plenty weaker lineup. to not take something removed from Beckett, as he's having an surprising twelve months. Beckett has extra wins, and that's a tribute to the gang he pitches for. yet Haren has extra advantageous than an entire run much less for an era (2.29) it is ill interior the yankee League. a extra appropriate strikeout to stroll ratio, a extra appropriate WHIP, and the main amazing...he has 17 high quality starts off in his 19 starts off. meaning he has long gone a minimum of 6 innings, giving up 3 runs or much less, in 17 of nineteen starts off. Beckett has 10 of his 17 starts off as high quality. in case you look into the two communities, the two gamers, and the #'s, there replaced into little doubt who could be commencing...Leyland have been given it precise. Beckett would not suck with the aid of how...Haren is in simple terms pitching out of his strategies precise now.

All good arguments. I think either one would represent the AL and give the AL the win so the Red Sox can host the World Series in games 1 and 2 in October!

I still say Beckett is the better pitcher and more deserving but in the end it is up to Leyland and I hope he picks Beckett.
P.S. If you think the A.L. West is a much better hitting division you are a complete moron...the Yankees alone are better hitting than the entire A.L. West.

Who knows? It could just as easily be CC Sabathia, Justin Verlander or Fausto Carmona.
