The grass is only half an inch high [sown 5 days ago] and the strawberry plants have been growing for nearly 4months.

I have the same problem. I take a small narrow spade and carefully dig the grass out.

get a secure seize from a petstore or animal take care of. Bait it with some peanutbutter or something rats might like, that is going to seize the rats yet not kill them, then you certainly can launch them away out of your domicile

Being new grass, it should not be rooted to well. Should be able to just grab it and lift up for removal.

i wouldn't mess around with any chemials because you don't want that on your new fruit. If there isn't too much grass, i'd just pull it out of there...carefully.

get a small hand rake and scratch it out of there
