Acquaintance is just someone you know, someone you would smile at and maybe wave at when passing them by on the street, but they´re not people you really know....and a friend is someone you can trust, that you know really well, someone you love and care about. :)

an acquaintance is just someone you know. A friend is someone who will always be there for you no matter what. A person you can tell your wildest secrets too, someone you can trust anything with. Someone who will take the fall just so you don't get in trouble. I have many many acquaintances but only a couple of "real friends" A friend is for life no matter what. I was told once that the average person will only have a hand full of true friends their whole life

An acquaintance to me is someone I know (obviously) but don't really talk to unless we're at the same place at the same time. A friend is someone I go out of my way to talk to. Invite them to do things. Tell them somewhat personal things about myself. I feel more comfortable around a friend rather than an acquaintance

my rating for these 2 would have to be : (1) for acquaintance is someone I have recently met, dunno much about him yet and (3-4) someone I know well enough to sit down for a heart-to-heart with. (5) being the highest rating
