Has your opinion of Mr & Mrs McCann changed over the past weeks and why?

2007-06-17 21:38:07 · 40 answers · asked by K-9 3 in News & Events Current Events

Having read your answers, I just wanted to clarify, that my question has nothing to do with Dave S. I wanted to know if people opinions had changed and why, it wasn't meant to be a free for all and an excuse to slag dave s off.

Yes. At first I was worried and a little anxious for them but now I'm bored to death with the whole affair - AND I STILL SAY THERE'S MORE THERE THAN MEETS THE EYE ! ! !

I, like most people, was horrified when that poor child went missing, and I do hope that she will be found alive and well. My opinion on her parents has not changed from the very beginning, as the parent of 2 small children myself there is NO WAY on Earth that I would have left them alone in a strange place, it's not just the risk of weirdo's its the simple fact that a child should not have to wake up in the night alone. I think what I really found hard to believe was Gerry's comment on his blog that about a week after Maddie's abduction they "dropped the twins off at the kids club" so they could go to a meeting. If that were me, I would have the twins with me 24/7, they'd even be sleeping in our bed, I could not handle being away from my kids at a time like that. The money thing is also leaving a very bad taste in my mouth, if they were using it to hire detectives or mercenaries (Wouldn't it be worth a bloody try?) I would understand, but releasing 50 balloons in 50 countries?.....yeah, that's practical.

I also still think that if the same situation happened to a single mother from a Council Estate on holiday, everyone would be far less forgiving....can you imagine the tabloids giving her as much sympathy and support as they have given the McCann's?

No my opinion of the McCanns has not changed. I still think that they were very silly to leave their children alone in a hotel room. However I feel that they suffer daily with the remorse and guilt.

At first I thought that they were playing a clever game keeping Maddie in the spotlight. It kept people on the look out for the child. However now I feel it is time to stop that. You see, if there is all of the constant media attention, Maddie is going to become a liability to whom ever has her and may feel that it's easier to get rid of a body rather than hang onto the child.

To Whipass Chick and Alsanja - If the McCanns had suggested top on the commencing up "Omg what have we executed? We have been so stupid. We have been egocentric, we merely needed a evening out with out the youngsters and we concept we'd shop a pair of quid by utilizing not getting a babysitter. We merely didnt think of. i'm going to never make that mistake back. God forgive me I cant think of approximately something different than a thank you to get maddy back so i'm sorry I cant do to any extent further interviews for you. I cant even think of immediately i'm so nerve-racking. I shall never forgive myself" etc etc. THEN i could have had bags of sympathy for them. yet they didnt say any of that. What they actually did became to fail to admit that they were negligent. They swanned off on foreign places holiday journeys to work out the Pope and to america, and that they suggested that they had in easy terms been "naive". So because of the fact of that I have no sympathy for the mothers and fathers in any respect and that i does not be in any respect taken aback if that they had something to do with it.

Yes my feelings towards the McCanns have changed from weeks ago. I find them the most arrogant people who looks to me have no time for Madeleine, but only themselves. They both should of been actors, because they are very good in doing that.

Yes it has changed from bad to worse. Luxury holidays, ever changing stories, less and less emotions, now l soon they will be celebration 50 days. I mean how sick is that. They are child neglecting parents and nothing in this whole world is ever going to change that.

Not really.
WhenI first heard about what had happened I thought it was awful, but when I heard that they had left their kids alone, although I still think what happened to Madeline is terrible, I feel nothing for the parents. Apart from growing disbelief at their actions.

No. I still think they behaved selfishly and irresponsibly and I find it unbelievable that they left those children alone, night after night, in a ground floor room, with unlocked patio doors. Sheer lunacy.

This doesn't mean I agree with the spiteful remarks being made by some people on this site. Dave S in particular is clearly obsessed; one can only surmise that people out in the real world are fed up with him banging on about this case, hence his need to keep posting absurd comments on here.

It has only gotten worse and more suspicious for me concerning Gerry but it has a bit with Kate. I think she is beginning to look worn down. I think she may be the one who snaps and then maybe some questions will be answered.

No, I think they were bad parents then and I still do now. At the end of the day, if they hadn't have left their children then Madeleine wouldn't have been taken. That fact will never change. If anything my opinion of them has actually got worse, they have milked this so much and all for the wrong reasons.
