It would be hard to choose between the first 13 seasons of The Simpson's and Family Guy, but nowadays it's easy; Family Guy by a land slide. It's so sad to see how the new writers of The Simpson's are taking a dump Gorge Lucas style on my beloved show. I had to stop watching The Simpson's because since they are so bad it was ruining Family Guy for me. Thank God Family Guy was uncanceled!

Well you have to think of it like this a lot of jokes on family guy come from the simpsons personally i love the simpsons but don't get me wrong i like family guy too but the simpsons will always be my favourite show.

They are both irreplaceable. Where the Simpsons bad taste ends Family guy is just getting started.but both are also really well thought out.
The episodes have very little in them that isn't necessary to the plot and/or the punchline. they are fast moving and the twists come out of nowhere. You sit down to a show about one thing and the next its a whole different theme.
Its good writing (even if it's about crude people) and both the Simpsons and the Famiy Guy teams deserve all the awards and accolades that TV comedy has available. To their credit,Both Matt Greoning and Seth Mcfarlane the respective creators have successful sequels as well which are SOLID entertainment. FUTURAMA and AMERICAN DAD.

Family Guy has jokes better suited to adults, Simpsons jokes are universal.
Personally I like Family Guy more.

The show uses frequent "cutaway gags" — jokes in the form of tangential vignettes that do not advance the story.

The longest running show on TV (ever) is the Simpsons. In comparison Family Guy is a flash in the pan.
