Have a poltergeist, eh? TV's and and the like can be set of by power surges and errant radio-frequencies, neighbors playing pranks and the like. What I'd like to know is if this behavior has followed you around for your entire life. I've had plenty of experiences of this phenomenon, and it seems to follow me around. As a scientist, I can only say that it happens . . . although it never seems to happen while I'm looking. I once had a valve on a container of compressed gas turn off THREE times. I would walk by, check the regulator, and think "Oh, I must have finally run out of gas . . ." only to open the valve again. I was the only one around. You could think of as many "reasonable" explanations as you like: Alzheimer's, post-hypnotic suggestion, entropy-driven spontaneity, but these seem relatively far fetched. As I've said, the only thing that seems to prevent it is through monitoring . . . if it's frequent and bothering you, maybe set up a video camera. You might catch someone playing a trick on you, get some amazing footage of this phenomenon in action, or just prevent it from happening.
