How about the The Dark is Rising series by Susan Cooper, the Young Wizards series (So You Want to be a Wizard... is the first) by Diane Duane, the Pit Dragon Trilogy by Jane Yolan, and Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede. The Pit Dragon series is my favorite of the four. I also definately recommend Tamora Pierce's books so don't put those off too much longer.

As an afterthought, there's also Just Ella by Haddix, The Squire's Tale and other stories by Gerald Morris, and the series beginning with Of Two Minds by Matas and Nodelman. Those three are as good as the Pit Dragon series in my opinion.

Wow. You must be a really avid reader.... You should check out Jim Butcher's Codex Alera Series. I love it and so does my kid sister. Also Lorna Freeman's Borderlands series.

I second the Patricia C Wrede and Susan Cooper recommendations. I cut my teeth on those books and I was hooked from the start.

Another interesting read is Diane Wynne Jones. Her Wizard's Castle Series is pure fun. Another author you should take a look at is Terry Pratchett. His Discworld books will make you rotfl.

Then there's Peter Beagle's Last Unicorn. It's considered a fantasy classic.

Roger Zelazny's Amber Chronicles. Those books rock.

Ilona Andrews' Magic Bites. That's Urban Fantasy of a sort I guess.

Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson books are more in the same genre.

Karen Chance's Cassandra Palmer Books are good too.

Raymond Feist's Riftwar books are engrossing. I especially loved "Daughter Of The Empire".

The "Recluce" books are kinda philosophical I guess but interesting reads if a bit dry.

Alice Borchardt is one of my favorite authors. I dunno if I've spelt the name right though... She's Anne Rice's sister but you can't see any hint of similarity in their writing styles. I don't like Anne Rice that much but I love Alice Borchardt. Might be a bit too vivid for you though. It's not exactly YA reading material. Got too much Sex n Violence in it... Not gratuitous though.

Kelley Armstrong's "Women of the Otherworld" Series is a bit more graphic than any of the other books I've suggested. So choose with caution.

Another of my favorites is David Weber. His Honor Harrington Series is just too good. N if you like "Fantasy" you should check out his Bahzell books. I cant wait for the next to come out. It might be considered "Not Christian" though cos it's set on a planet with a whole new theological system n some of the statements made by the Gods in the book make it sound like they r the true Gods and ppl jus call them by different names or somethin.

Then there's David Eddings. His Belgariad and Malloreon Series are pretty good but his later books are just altered and weaker clones of his earlier ones.

And finally, Mercedes Lackey. I like almost all her books from the old "Diana Tregarde" books to her latest "Fairy Godmother" Series. I suggest you read her collaborative "Heirs of Alexandria" Series. But you should take a look at book summaries and make your choice. Some of those books aren't to everyone's taste.

Based on your previous book list, you must try the following series:

1. Tales of Earthsea by Ursula Le Guin
2. Dark is Rising Sequence by Susan Cooper
3. Sabriel, Lirael, Abhorsen by Garth Nix

Absolutes for fantasy lovers. :)

Ann McCaffrey is a fabulous writer with many fantasy books to her credit. I really enjoyed her Crystal Singer trilogy and would highly recommend it.

John Wyndham is also wonderful. Try 'The Trouble With Lichen' very thought provoking and a great read.

Charlaine Harris writes the really fun 'Southern Vampire' series; a blend of fantasy/humour/romance/horror. They really are great fun!

Try the "Sword of Shanara" series (over 20 books, but it's split into trilogies) by Terry Brooks if you're into the whole Elf/dwarf/human/troll type thing.

But if you're more interested in a human/magic/real world genre, try reading "Running with the Demon" and the rest of it's trilogy by Terry Brooks. It's fantasy that takes place in the United States, and has amazing plot lines.

Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King is a fun book...very fairy tales-ish, but still has elements of Horror. Also read The thief of Always and ABARAT by Clive Barker.
