I moved here a while ago and don't really know enough people to ask such a question.

How would I go about finding a good one, I have looked for information on the internet but have found nothing.

I need to go to one soon, because I am having sharp pains (every so often) in my lower abdommen and pelvic area.

I'm not in your area but I would recommend checking with some of the hospitals (depending on the size of the town) in their labor and delivery dept by talking to some of the nurses there. If this is a big town the hospitals may have a physician referral line you can call.

Also, I don't know which sites you checked online but you can try this one's physician finder: http://www.acog.org and then click on your State and Town.

As for these sharp pains, I would recommend contacting your primary care physician if you have one set up right now because they may also have some recommendations for you about going to a gynecologist.

If this is going to be your first experience ask them which female physicians they recommend. I feel that for someone going to the gynecologist for the first time they may feel more comfortable going to a female dr than a male dr.
