You just got to remember Jaws is only a movie,Its not often there's a shark attack on humans, In fact the chances is 1 in 10,000 ,The average shark attack in a year is only averaging any were from 1 to 20 people in the world and that cause do to carelessness(provoking) And sharks see Surf boards as a Seal ,One of the sharks main sources of food. I watch the Animal channel and Discovery to. P.S stop watching SCARY movies with your Mother

Nope, not in the least... then again I am obsessed with sharks and the data behind their attacks.

The trick to swimming is understanding what causes attacks. For example it is not wise to swim at dawn and dusk, stay away from areas where there is fishing or dumps, do not wear anything that reflects light or a swimsuit that has extreme contrasting colors... that type of stuff.

As good as the movie Jaws is (and I do LOVE it), it as well as the media has set a bad tone for sharks. They make it sound like attacks happen all the time and the waters of the world are extremely dangerous. In all reality they are not, that is if you are smart about where and how you swim.

Heck last year only 4 people in the ENTIRE world were killed by sharks and less than 100 people were attacked. Even those attacks could have been anything from a scratch to the loss of a limb.

If you really want to check out data look into the ISAF, they are an excellent source.

Yes. Me too. I have cds of the movies - jaws, jaws 2, deep blue sea.. and you know wat? i just watch them repeatedly every month, atleast twice. A unique kind of fascination I have developed for sharks. and i dont miss shows on them in the national geographic. I have read a lot of texts on sharks.
But i am not afraid of the sea for that sake. I had even planned to take up marine biology and marine sciences for my graduation but unfortunately, i could make it. But still i havent lost attraction towards those creatures. I also have a fancy for seahorses, amongst all other sea fauna..

Nice to meet someone who shares my interests.. Regards..

You bet! But I get freaked out when I'm swimming in the ocean at night. My imagination goes into overdrive.
