Besides using an advanced scientific calculator, there are many ways to do this depending on how much math you know.

If you are aware of the trig identities:
sin(x) = -sin(-x)
sin(180-x)=sin(x)

Then combined you get that sin(-135) = -sin(135) = -sin(180-135) = -sin(45)
As you should know, sin(45) is just sqrt(2)/2,
so -sin(45) is
-sqrt(2)/2

which will be your exact answer.

-135° = 225° (3rd quadrant)
sin(- 135°) = sin(225°) = - sin 45° = - 1 / √2

sin (-135) = sin (-45) and the angle locate at 180 ~ 270.

= - sin (45) = - 1 / (2^1/2) = -0.7071

(2^1/2) = surd 2

sin(-135) = - sin(135)

sin (135) = sin(90 + 45) = cos (45) = 1/sqrt(2)

sin(-135) = -1/sqrt(2)

use a reference angle of 45 degrees. find out what quadrant -135 is. then measure the angle going the other way so that its a positive number and theres your answer
