I think a lot of people have funny labour stories. Mine was i was on my way to the hospital (they were going to induce me), my best friend and partner were with me. We were on the lift as they had a room ready for me. But lucky me my waters broke on the lift...in front of so many people...how embarrasing. I was laughing so much, my partner freaked out ! but 2 minutes of laughing and the pain started. I was screaming my head off, screaming for a nurse or someone, screaming at my partner. 4 hours later my baby boy was born !! (1st baby)
What was your labour story?

my water broke at midnight so i went to the hosp and they hooked me up to monitors etc and I just laid there...hour after hour with not a single pain or contraction....other moms were coming and going and having babies and i was still just waiting....the nurses kept coming and checking on me and asking me...."are you sure you dont feel any pain?" believe me I had a baby before....I know what pain feels like. Anyhow, eventually the nurses sort of got fed up with me and I found myself all alone at exactly 9 am.....the first contraction hit and hit damn hard....right out of nowhere. second one hit 4 minutes later...it was even worse.....3rd one hit soon there after and by the 4th contraction baby was on the way out....exactly 9:15(clock was on opposite wall) my daughter was born just as a nurse came in the door...nurse came screaming across the room catching my daughter just as she was all the way out.....a 15 minute birth from start to finish....not exactly funny I guess but kind of is when I think about it....my daughter has been the same all her 14 years....rather slow to get started but then suddenly she's like a house on fire and theres no stopping her....lol.

I was due with my son June 26th and I had him June 23rd. My contractions woke me up and 5 AM and I got to the hospital around 6AM. My water never broke on its own so my doctor had to do it. I got an epidural and started pushing at 8cm because he was still pretty far up in the birth canal. At one time, he tried turning face up, so I had to lay on my side and push to get him to go back face down. He did, finally. After 1 1/2 hard, continuous pushing he was born at 1:39 PM the same day. He weighed 7lbs 15 oz and was 21 inches long. I am 25 weeks with a girl now and due September 28.

My first was 2 weeks overdue so I went in to be induced. They put the gel stuff on my cervix to soften it when I got there and put me in a room. Over the next few hours they checked my cervix for changes and my husband joked about everyone sticking their fingers in me.

Right after he said that a doctor and a group of medical students came by and I was asked if they could come in to observe. During that check the doctor asked if the students could try checking me. At that point all I could do was laugh and say "might as well everyone else has"

My labors were all pretty standard, but one of my aunty's delivered her baby WHILE they were lifting her from the wheel chair to the bed! A Nurse had to support the baby's head, so they could get my aunt to the bed.
A friend of mine went to the toilet while in labor (after having been told it would be hours yet) and gave birth to her son there in the toilet!
And there is the story told by one of our local policemen, who pulled over a speeding car, only to have to deliver the driver's son there and then. He says its funny, because he forgot to give the husband his ticket!
But I did have a funny incident at the Maternity ward, though. My good friend and I were due at the same time, and were booked in at the same hospital. She went in first, so hubby and I went to visit her. As I was waddling up to her room, this frantic nurse comes running up the corridoor. She grabs me by the arm, as says "Your going the wrong way! The Labor Ward is in the other direction." Laughing I explain we are just visiting. She took another look at my enormous belly and asked "Are you sure?"

A few days before having my baby my husband decided he had better finish our retaining wall so he could be there for me when the baby arrived. The problem was it was pouring rain and there was mud every where, as he had water in his boots he took off his socks and boots and threw on a pair on joggers/sneakers and then kept working for another good few hours. The problem was he didn't realise he was skinning his shins nearly down to the bone (when my husband works he works very hard and doesn't stop) He didn't relies he had done this till he got home. He ended up hardly being able to walk. During my labour I sent him to my room to lay down as he couldn't stand up!! Luckily I had my mum there to support me! I called him back just before our little girl was born and 5 minuets after he left to go to the doctors. For the next three days in hospital my husband layed on the fold out bed in my room getting sympathy from every doctor, nurse and person who walked in my room. He had nurses changing his dressing and doctors giving him penicillin shots and me running after him as well. Thank god he did the retaining wall so he could help me out when the baby came hey!!! lol

This is really my Mum's story. Today no one would bat an eyelid at this, but 20 odd years ago, it was not the done thing!

My Dad is very artistic and one day he was giving Mum a little downstairs trim with scissors and cut out a hugh heart shape. The only problem was Mum went into labour that night, heart shape and all!!!
