I spilled a glass of soda on it last week and now it has stopped working. Not surprising really. Is there any way of cleaning it up? Can I do it myself or do I need a proffesional. Are there proffesionals who do this? My lap top is completely filthy anyway. Any help would be gratefully received.

You can take the keyboard keys out of the laptop, but be carefull as they are hard to get back on. Any local computer shop should be able to help you out there. PC world are OK for repairs but take their time and can be expensive. Good Luck!

This is becoming such a common problem, spilling liquid over keyboards. with a pc, you can simply buy a new keyboad, with a laptop, unless it can be dried and hasnt died already you may be lucky. Let this be a valuable lesson to you, computers do not mix with food or drink and I can't understand why internet cafes don't recognise that fact. Certainly in all the computer suites I teach in, I would never allow food and drink even in the same room, let alone near a computer.

You should get an external keyboard, for example, a PS2 or USB keyboard to replace your laptop keyboard.
