My boyfriend is a Russian Immigrant. He came the USA at the age of 13. He spoke No english. Now he is 22 and I can't even tell that he was from Russia. He is an all american guy, who loves cars and video game just like every other american guy does.
Honestly, My BF didn't have many friends here in the united states. Still today. He has 1 friend that he hangs out with and thats it. Well he also has me. But he met some other men this year at the race track where he races cars. He is really shy and always has been. Just put yourself out there. American Women LOVE foriegn Men.

Work is a good idea. There are a lot of immigrants that I work with and most of them don't know any english. But we always have such good fun at work and we now have a friendship despite the language barrier. Just be friendly and they'll return it. I absolutly love the people I work with, I'm sure your co-workers will love you too.

Start going to church and volunteer to work on committees with the church to get things done. There are always a good mix of ages at church. If you meet anyone, you get to meet their family too which is a big step any time.
Plus, you can learn a lot about how things are done in the USA and make contacts with people who trust you (if you are trustworthy) and will give you good advice!

Just get out there and meet people. Don't let your being an immigrant stop you. If you want to perfect your English, you could always chat with people on AIM. IM me sometime at Lnsatiable Flame and we'll chat.

I'm an immigrant too, from Scotland. I'd advise you to join a group, a club or a Church congregation. Find a new hobby, something that interests you. Good luck!

go to a local park, a big shopping mall, or anywhere a lot of people gather. wear a smile and just walk up to people and introduce yourself. if you drink alcohol, find a local bar that the people that frequent it are about the same age as you
