I get mistaken for a grocery store employee ALL THE FREAKING TIME!!! I think mostly it's just older people cause, maybe they can't see that well, or they are going senile or.. just oblivious idk. I think, all they need to do is, before they start rattling off their questions about canned biscuits or where the wheat thins are located... just ask, "do you work here?" first. That's all.
It's very simple, easy and takes like, 1.5 seconds. It's only the considerate thing to do.
And I would especially think that older people would've learned how to be considerate at some point in their lives.

Sorry to go on like that. Idk, maybe I just naturally look like a grocery store employee. *sigh*

BTW, I usually say "I don't work here" and they are very surprised when I do say that. I have never had anyone say, "I know you don't work here but do you know about such-and-such anyway?" In that case I would be glad to help if I can.

I've been mistaken for a dept. store employee several times. I can do simple things like directing them to the dressing rooms or other departments. When they ask about return policies, I direct them to guest services and explain I don't work there. I'm told I look friendly and approachable. You probably just have a take charge attitude about you.

I think so a long time ago. I was mistaken to be some little girls mother at a grocery store. She ran up to me and told me what snack she wanted and she must have not been looking at me straight on. I told her "hun i am not your Mom." and she looked freaked out and ran over to the other lady in the aisle I was in.

If an worker is impolite one too many circumstances you may checklist them to the government. If it happens back digital mail the corporate workplace and tell them that not something has been executed on the subject of the worker once you filed a grievance.

...I have a couple of long-sleeved, vertically blue & white striped shirts in my wardrobe, and in going to an Office Depot, it happens every time, that I get pulled aside by an unknowing, wayward customer/consumer, attempting to get information from whom they think is an employee, working the floor.
