You'll need a food handler's card from the health dept. You'll also need to have a TB test (also health dept.) You'll probably need a Sheriff's card (from the downtown police dept.) and a liquor card. For the liquor card, you'll need to take a class and pass a short test at the end of it. In order to get the Sheriff's card, you'll need to get the paperwork from your job. The health card and TAM card you can get beforehand. Welcome to Las Vegas!

I live in Vegas and visit family in Seattle. The weather at both cities is very different so depending on which you like better you should choose. Vegas is in the middle of the Mohave Desert. The summer heat is over 100 for over three months. The spring and fall are fantastic. Winter can be cold if the north winds blow but we seldom have even flakes. You are 6 hours from CA and beaches, a couple hours from UT and skiing, and a plane ride anywhere. The town is 24/7 but people who live here learn not to gamble except like taking the same amount of money as a movie and knowing the chances of losing are high. NV needs teachers desperately. Jobs are casnos are tight right now but housekeeping would be a good choice. Getting a job right off is very iffy. You will need a car because the bus system is awful. The cost of living is comparable to Seattle. Seattle is humid. A/c is not a normal things for those several hot days in the summer. Snow falls depending exactly where you live. Restaurant prices compared to Vegas are higher but the food, etc., about the same, depending on exactly where you rent. That is all I know

the tam card/ liquor license takes a few hours, the test, no worries, all the answers well, you'll see...
the health card, and shot, one place as well as the video, another few hours, the lines can be pretty bad...
the sheriff's card not necessarily needed depending on where you apply
but PATIENCE is what you need most of all... it can be quite hard to break into the vegas scene... you might want to try somewhere off of the strip first, a lot of people/ places here want to see that you aren't just another transient person...
as far as needing a nevada i.d. not for real, i still don't have one and really didn't need anything proving my address for my cards either...

you need a health card to work in the food/bevarage industry here. you have to apply, take a tb test, and watch a movie. So depending on how it goes, it should only take a day or two to get. Some places also require a sherrifs card which required a background/fingerprint check. You get a temp one right away, but your real one takes a month or so. After you get these cards you should be able to get a job right away..

i dont know but go to the Las Vegas city website or the state of Nevada. My guess is that they have a food handlers card just like the one required here in other states.
They may not call it a food handlers card but just send an email saying you are a frontline cook and want to know if you need special certification or will what you already have (if anything) meet their requirements for food handling certification.
congrats on your move
i hope this helps!

you need a food service card. alcohol awareness card. casino card if you will be in the gaming areas.
your employer will help you if you are in management.
go to the nevada government web page and you can check all the licenses.
you cannot have the cards till you get an address here and need a valid drivers' license or state id. They will not issue to out of state people.
