How do you clean the Macintosh Hard drive of an Apple computer?

I have a Mac Apple computer and i don't know how to clean up the Hard drive in it. Is there a special way that i can get rid of all the unwanted memory and so my computer could be faster? Thank you.

Use the installer disc, and tell it to wipe the drive and install.
