On my sheet this appears in a better algebraic for format, but this is the best I could do to type it. The 2 is sitting under A+a.

V=[(A+a)/2]L multiply the "2" to both sides
2V=(A+a)L divide "A+a" on both sides
2V/(A+a) = L final answer

V= (A+a/2)L

bring L over to the left side,
VL = (A + a)/2

bring the 1/2 over to the left side,
2VL = A + a

bring the 2V to the right side,
L = (A + a)/2V

V/(A+a)/2=L
2V/(A+a)=L
or L=2V/(A+a)

Divide by (A+a/2)

V/(A+a/2)=L

My algebra is rusty but I think that works.

L = 2V / (A + a)
