I had this car BEFORE we got married. I got this van after marriage and it was a gift from my step-mother from my dad life insurance. He died last year.

that is for the courts to decide ,they will not let your husband just walk out on you and leave you with no kind of transportation for your kids ,don't worry something good will come out of this .a lot of woman have been through messy divorces but they dealt with it and so can you, good luck

You're married so thus it is marrietal property. If you sold the car you would have to pay him 1/2 of whatever you receive for the car when you end up in divorce court.. When you get married nothing is his or hers anymore but the property of the marriage. Before you do anything you need to check the laws where you live to be on the safe side.

It sounds like their is an underlying problem...and it isn't the car!!! I am so sorry you're having a hard time!!! Why are you getting divorced after only 14 months???
If I was in this situation, I would...call the cops if he takes your car and tell them it was stolen.

if the car is in your name, i can't see how he could legally get it unless you signed it over to him. are you still paying for the car? if not, take it to court and give it to him after he gives you the full value or more of the car.

He can't get the car if it's in your name. Go ahead and sell it. If he tries to take it anyway, have him arrested for car thief. Go to the welfare dept and get on aid for the children.

He can't take anything that isn't in his name, the van is yours free and clear he can't touch it. He's just posturing and being an ***. Always make sure you keep things in somone else's name and you're safe...hope it helps.

If he takes your car you can call the police and report it stolen, very simple, if it's not in his name at all then he has no right to it.

if he leaves you can say what he takes and not take. He can not take anything from your house with out you saying he can. Let him leave and do what you have to. if it is in your moms name he takes it and you say no he just stood the van.
