People do this because babies are irresistibly adorable. But you are right, it is rude to touch someones kid without permission. Protecting your child is your first priority, not the feelings of others so just be frank and say, please do not touch my baby.. She tends to put her hands in her mouth. Then pull out a baby wipe and clean her hands.

Because babies are gorgeous and are designed to make people want to touch and love them.
A nice way of saying "Don't touch" is to simply say "I'm sorry, but she's been a little sick lately so I'd prefer it if nobody touched her until she's completely well again.".
Personally I had to tell people time and time again not to touch my baby, as my son was born three months early and had a very low immune system...didn't take long until I no longer cared if I sounded nice or not lol!

When you see them coming toward your baby just move your baby away and say sorry I mean you don't know them what right do they have touching someone else's child. A cousin of mine had a baby and this lady went to kiss the baby and my grandma got real mad and was like you don't kiss that baby you kiss their feet on top of the socks. She hates that lol. But, just say please don't touch my baby that's nicer then what us mommy's really think when a stranger tries to touch our child. Oh by the way you don't need to be nice lol

As you see the person starting to reach for your child. Say in a firm but kind voice. " I would prefer if you not touch my baby, thank you" then get away as quickly as possible from the situation.
Or be a smart Assssssh and say. "You can touch him, but you need to know that he has Hand Foot and mouth disease"

I would carry some wipes to clean the baby's hands after they've been touched. There is no nice way of saying "Dont Touch!" lol.

i had this also, especially with twins. i would shop with them in the stroller covered up and "hiding under the canopies" and people would try and open the canopies up to see/touch them. people LOVE babies. try the oh the baby is sleeping please dont wake him/her i JUST got her to sleep. after having my twins, i learned that people will ask/do anything without thinking about it. some can be rather rude and others are just curious. speak up it is YOUR child and you know what is best. good luck

I HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM SO NOW WHEN I GO OUT I EITHER PUT HIM IN A SLING THAT FACES ME SO THEN THEY CANT COME NEAR ME AND HIM OR I RUG HIM UP IN HIS PRAM AND FACE THE PRAM TO MYSELF SO THAT STRANGERS CANT REALLY SEE HIM. IT IS SOOO ANNOYING I KNOW WHY YOU ARE ANNOYED ESPECIALLY WHEN SMOKERS WANT TO HOLD HIM I JUST SAY NO AND I KOW THAT EVERYONE IS TALKING BEHIND MY BACK SAYING WHAT A PHYSCO MUM I AM BECAUSE I WONT LET THEM HOLD HIM BUT I DONT CARE ANYMORE.
ALSO I HAVE SAID HE GETS TOO UNSETTLED IF EVERYONE TOUCHES AND HOLDS HIM AS ITS TOO MUCH STIMULATION THAT USUALLY WORKS.
BUT PEOPLE KNOW WHAT IM LIKE NOW SO THEY JUST DONT ASK............

you can say "Please don't touch my child". most people do not understand boundaries, so it will be your job as a parent to teach them.
