(for better or worse how about Jesus, the Popes, Mohammed, Ghandi, Cesaer, Napoleon, Hitler, Marx, Einstein, Oppenheimer, Wozniak and Jobs, Gates, Muhammed Ali, Pele...)
Ofcourse musically the Beatles were unparalled both in music creativity, song writing and cultural impact. The enormous popularity of the Beatles in America, and in the world, from 1964-1966 has never been touched. Michael Jackson in 1983-84 came close as ofcourse did Elvis in the mid 50s. The amazing thing about the Beatles was how much they changed in both appearance and in their music in just a few years in a decade where men were growing their hair longer, sex and mind altering substances were more accepted and people were in the streets for civil rights and peace. I don't think the Beatles were the followers. Everybody tried to copy them after Sargent Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Assuming that you are asking a musical question this would be my short answer.
Yes. Beethoven, Robert Johnson, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Sarah Vaughan and so many more. The Beatles were very popular but other people had a much greater overall impact on the music you hear today, and in turn the world. Music impacts the world in ways that no other form of media can. There would likely be no rock and roll if it weren't for classical and blues music. Imagine that.
If a general question, then no one has had a greater impact on the world over the past two thousand years than the figure of Jesus in his many forms.

Huh???
While the Beatles certainly impacted their genre(s) of music, there were other people and groups that impacted the world. On the positive side, Martin Luther, who triggered the Protestant Reformation, which led to changes in banking, governments, and even literature as well as literacy. Also, nearer to our time, Thomas Jefferson, who authored the Declaration of Independence, most of the Constitution, and was the person who put much of the design for American democracy on paper.
On the negative side, try Atilla the Hun, Napolean Bonaparte, Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin, Mao Tse Tung, and others.
In literature, Victor Hugo, Charles Dickens, Mark Twain and others have all impacted our culture.
Musically you can take any classical composer, such as Beethoven or Mozart and see their influence on modern music--including the music of the Beatles.
I could probably think of a lot of other people or groups, but both time and space are limited.
Oh, yeah. In spite of John Lennon's thoughts on the subject, Jesus.

Johannes Gutenberg and his printing press gets my vote, at as quickly as inspiring the strategies of Martin Luther, consequently John Calvin, and limitless others. The printing press's outcomes no longer purely on faith yet different factors of society are additionally incalculable.
