I don't think we can evolve into another species without some catestrophic, global events to aid in the process. I say this because the population density of humans is quite large, and for evolution to take place, the gene pool would have to be reduced or the more successful mutations would not have a significant impact on the population when they reproduced. Another hindrance to evolving is that when a mutation occurs, it will likely be addresses by modern medicine, as opposed to survival of the fittest theories kicking in. With those two points said, however, I do believe we can and are in fact evolving as human beings today already. This evolution doesn't manifest itself in a genotype/phenotype, but rather, it is a higher state of consciousness. All people are capable of this evolution, and we've seen some amazing examples of what people can achieve in the pioneers of this evolution when we look at examples like Jesus, Buddha, etc.

Oh yes. It is a proven fact that human beings in this day and age, on average use only about 10% of their brain power. As time goes on (and assuming the people of the world don't nuke themselves to death first) the human race will start to use more and more of the brain. And as this happens, our brains and heads will get larger, to the point where our current skeletal structure and body composition will no longer support such large, heavy heads. Then our entire bodies will change into something more suitable to our new psychology. In the end, and after many thousands or possibly a million years, you would not be able to identify a "human" based upon what we are like today.
Heck, if we could make it close to 100%, we may no longer exist as solid matter. We might very well shed our weak, disease-prone bodies in favor of some other energy form. Perhaps a mass of "lgiht" or something similar.

Nope... evolve... that's the stupidest thing i've heard in ages... what, cause one guy sais 'hey what if there was a one in ten billion chance happening and this little atom changed into this little bug and then there was about a thousand more of these 'one in ten billion' chance changes which became a human' everyone flocks to the idea, and says 'hey we should teach kids this at school, and not only teach it, but teach it as a FACT even though we have no proof of it actually being a fact, wont that be great' and then the other guys goes 'yeah why not, it's getting a liitle boring at the school the way we can only teach real facts, lets spice it up a little' and now although you wont believe the sign that says 'wet paint' you'll believe a guy who had this 'idea' which everyone decided to call fact!
so no i dont think that will happen!

My boyfriend thinks that humans will eventually have only four toes. Weird... I don't think humans will evolve anymore. The point of evolution is so the strongest will survive to carry out the species. But with humans we don't really have any more obstacles. ANYONE can have a child, so there is not real natural selection. I think we will remain the same.

With things the way they are today I don't think so. Growing wings does not make humans any more fit to reproduce. Being a dumbass however in scientific terms of todays society does make you more fit to reproduce. Once the genes get passed on you have succeeded.

Yes, but I don't think we'll get wings or tougher skin or anything like that. I have a theory that these "gray" aliens that come visit us and abduct us and try to reproduce with us are, in fact, our next step in the evolutionary process. Far in the future, we visit our former evolutionary step to study us and see if our future selves are compatible with our present selves. Furthermore, if you look at cavemen, they're very hairy, have small brains, very large musculature, etc, etc. Our present selves have less hair except for our heads and specific other areas, have bigger brains, normal size musculature, etc etc. Look at these gray aliens, they have no hair at all, have these really big noggins, and have almost no muscle mass. It just follows in sequence, that's all I'm saying, so you religious types out there, please don't report me for abuse just cuz I went against your personal beliefs. Thank you.

Unfortunately NO, in fact if anything we are in a state of de-evolution and turning into forming an Idiocracy. How many times did we see Paris Hilton in the news the past three weeks? Proves my point...

My money is on the dolphins.
Man is evolving slower now because the weak survive and gene pool is pretty well stirred up.
