For example, if you were the oldest child, do you find that you get along better with other people who were also the oldest in their families?

Yes, actually, all of my very good friends are oldest children, only children, or youngest kids who are much, much younger than their older siblings.

I don't put much stock in the whole birth order thing.

and to answer your question, I get along with people of all birth orders pretty well. Those that I've gotten along with best, my closest friends, are a good mix of middle children and oldest child (I'm a middle child).

No, I'm the youngest but almost all of my friends are oldest. Boyfriends have been either oldest or youngest but never middle. I hope that helps.

I get along best with the oldest male of all brothers, or the youngest male of all sisters. Go figure.

Wow I've never thought about it but I guess so. My best friend is an only child, but my other two close friends are the youngest, like me.
