I had that same problem. Drove me nuts. First , it'll help if you go to the light blue strip way on the right, and move your arrow up and down on it. But the main problem is that the ball is dirty. So you have to dust your mouse pad every day with a cloth. Then remove the ball from the bottom. You can see the arrows showing you how to unwind it. Clean it good with the cloth as often as needed..(Maybe once a day.) Then wind the black cover back on. Hopefully, problem solved. Good luck, my friend.

Clean it if it's a mouse with a ball in it. The rollers are dirty. It the spring tension went out, then you need to buy a new one.

Unplug and replug it.
If this doesnt work then replace the mouse with a new one.
