i've often seen infomercial and advertisements on QVC and such for Bare Minerals makeup. It sounds nice, but does it really work? I suppose it might work for normal skin, but does it really cover up redness and acne and create a clean, fresh looking face? I don't have the best skin, although it has gotten better over the past 6 months or so.....but I need something strong enough to create a smooth look on my face, to cover up redness and acne.

so, has anyone who has tried it think it is worth the money? thanks!

I have rosacea, and get very red skin when it flares up. I use bare minerals - and it definitely works for me. Make sure you purchase the concealer brush (it's the one for detail work). If you have fair skin, also purchase the one called "Bisque" in addition to your foundation - it acts as a highlighter/concealer and really covers redness/acne.

Minerals are much better for your skin & can be applied to newly peeled or problematic skin.
There are a few tricks you will find helpful if you want to begin wearing them.
First, if you have larger pores of lines, you will need a primer that contains silicone. If you don' t have this, every pore, problem, line will be magnified by the minerals.
Second, try another brand other than B.M., like Amazing or Glo Minerals. These brands are triple milled so they are finer ground bits of mineral. The finer they are, the more flawless the coverage. Glo minerals even has a liquid foundation that is fabulous.
Third, when applying it, buff, buff, buff to even it out & make it look flawless.
Fourth, you must use the brushes that are recommended by the make-up people for their product. They have to be applied in a certain way to work the best.

If the product contains talc, it is not pure. So look for this in the brand you are choosing.
Hope this is helpful.

Hi there,

I just bot the bare minerals and the eye collection also. I do like it but, it does not do what you see on tv. Its an awesome product. I do like the kit for the eyes best.

I will tell you a really really really good product for the problems you are having. Its Mary Kay. I used to sell it and my coworker had acne really bad. I went up to her one day and said I have something that would fix your skin. You should see how good it worked. You need to use the whole skin care program for your type PLUS the acne treatment gel. Its ten years later and Tara is still using it. She actually stopped using what the face doctor gave her because it worked so well.

Like I said its a good product but, I think you would be a little dissappointed in it.

Bare Minerals changed my life. My skin is healthier than ever, and I get more compliments than ever on my make-up! It is worth every penny!! I've been using the products for a year now, and I make all my friends try it. So far 9 of my friends, and my mom and grandma have bought the basic kit after I let them try it. Your skin will look absoutely amazing, not to mention healthier than ever. I recommend buying the blush and a radiance color as well. They just add to the look. But again, they are totally worth the extra money!! Hope this helps!

Yeah, it does work. I think you can try it at Sephora, I know that they carry it there.
But just on a side note, instead of trying to cover up your problem maybe you should be putting your money into trying to improve the quality of your skin? (I hope I didn't make you mad, it's just a suggestion. Check out DHC skin care for that). I think the Bare Minerals website, gives out free samples, and I do know that there are Bare Mineral stores.

I dont have redness but I have discolorations (acne scars) and get zits every once in awhile. Bare Minerals wont really cover the zits, but will take away the redness and WONT aggrivate it and make it worse like, lets say, MAC would. (buy some tea tree oil to help out with zits -- works wonders)
Plus Bare Minerals will help you to not break out as much. I dont break out NEARLY as much as when I was using MAC and drug store makeup.

As for redness .. it will cover it up. I thought it wouldnt cover up my scars but it has. It did take me awhile to get the right technique down (the starter kit comes with a video though). I REALLY recommend the starter kit. You NEED those brushes to get the look you want. For you're face I would suggest getting the Concealer too. (I'll put the link at the bottom for you) .. from your avatar I'm guessing you would be the Fairly Light/Light starter kit. But anywho, You would take the foundation and put it on TWICE with the kabuki brush and then spot coverage with the concealer and apply concealer all over with the kabuki brush once.

If you dont want the starter kit just buy - foundation, kabuki brush, concealer, concealer brush (but it will be much cheaper if you buy the starter kit)

Here is the starter kit: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P116619&categoryId=B70

Concealer (in Bisque):

Sephora Store Locator!:

Just find a store near you and try Bare Minerals out. If you like it, buy it .. if not .. there are so many other mineral makeups out there you can try out. Or just purchase it and if you dont like it -- return it :]

Hope that helps!

yes it so worth every penny....i have acne and red spots and it covers it up pretty good...i really like the way my face look afterward... it had also helped my face too because i have oily skin so the mineral veil did wonders for me..i didnt have really bad acne but it did help lower the amount of breakouts and red spots..honestly to say u dont need all of the things they offer in the kit all u need is the powder that matches your skin color and the mineral veil...and make sure you get the brushes because its aboslutely true when they say that the brushes were made for the minerals...

I use bare minerals and it works great! I wouldn't reccommend it for someone who wants to find something that would cover extreme acne or dark spots. It is great at enhanceing your natural beauty. Worth the money.

I use Mineral Girlz. I love it! It evens out my skin tone so well! My skin is so crazy and gets red patches. I hate my skin! You would never know how messed up my skin is tho because I use Mineral Girlz! you should try it! The prices are SO much better than Bare Minerals and others I have seen.

I have used it for about 6 months and love it. I have really rosey red cheeks naturally and it covers that wonderfully. It keeps me shine-free, and conceals the rare blemishes (I get less since i started using it). It doesn't look cakey and feels natural. The mineral veil does wonders, the foundation is fabulous. Well worth themoney.

I recently bought some of their eye colors as well and am falling in love with them, great company.
