As soon as I switch-on the power supply, my pc starts automatically without requiring me to switch-on the pc (which I used to do previously). After working normally for about 10 minutes or so, the pc switches-off. I have checked the Device Manager which is OK in all respects. I have XP-SP2 with 512 mb of ram, TV tuner Card, two 80 GB Hard Drives and ATI radeon integrated graphics card.

See if the "on" button on the PC is sticky. I have an HP and the "on" button sometimes sticks in.

Sounds like a virus.... You got one for sure. If you can't run the computer for more than 10 minutes you are not going to be able to find a virus and get rid of it unless you really know what you are doing.. Do you have any friends that are into computers that could help you out maybe?

First make sure your PC power switch is not stuck.... if it is ok , go into your cmos settings (usually press the del key or f1 depending on your system bios) when you PC first starts up and before windows starts. When you are in your system cmos, reset to default settings. That will set your mother board power saving features to the manufactures settings....

One of three things I would check first (Simple) is..
1) Power supply. You have alot of items plugged in.
2) Memory. I would run a RAM test. http://www.memtest.org/
3) Dirty case. I would look and see if all of your fans are turning and if the CPU fan and\or heatsink is blocked.

Hi Dude,

It's Very simple, There will be only two reasons,
1) I think you are not shutting down the system properly ( Switching it off directly )

OR

2) Your Power switch is gone faulty, Just replace it.

though you will get advice online, the safest way to solve this problem is by asking a professional. Call the customer service line for the brand of computer you have, and they will tell you what to do.

It may be due to faulty power supply or faulty UPS or setting of power (under screen saver setting screen) or may be due to networking problem and even virus attack also.
