AMD Athlon 64 X2 motherboard with SD RAM?

I'm upgrading my PC's motherboard and RAM at a budget price (trying to go for under $200). I'm going for the lower-end 64 X2 since it's a lot cheaper than the Core 2 Duo low-ends and I don't use my PC much besides multiple word documents, power points, and internet.

The problem is I can't seem to find a more recent AMD motherboard that supports the old SD RAM (I have like 5 lying around my house collecting dust). Any recommendations? I already checked newegg and tigerdirect.

As others have said, this is impossible. AMD has the memory controller integrated into the CPU, meaning the type of processor you have dictates what type of RAM you are able to use, no way around it. X2s on socket 939 use DDR, socket AM2 use DDR2. No X2 made that will work with the old SDRAM, so I am afraid you are out of look.

That's because all X2's support either DDR SD RAM or DDR2 SD RAM (Double Data Rate). You will have to look at what socket the processor that you want to buy is for (all X2's are either 939 or AM2). If it's socket 939 then it's DDR. If it's socket AM2 then it's DDR2. Go with the AM2 socket because 939 is being phased out and therefore parts are more expensive. Plus DDR2 has a higher bandwidth. In other words it can transmit more information per second. Do some smart shopping and you can get an AM2 board, an AM2 processor, and 2 GB of RAM for around $200.

You won't find any socket 939 or AM2 boards that use SDRAM. Those only come with 184 or 240 PIN DDR ram.
